Exploring the world of microbes with PacBio SMRT sequencing
Location: Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research
Seminar Room G24 Friday 8th September 2017
1:00pm - 2:00pm
Microbes live in, on and around us, most often in complex communities that impact both biomedical and environmental well-being. Our ability to understand the function of these communities requires detailed resolution and comprehensive characterisation of community members. Other sequencing method are often limited by short reads and/or bias, which can result incomplete genome assembly, limited functional insight, and lack of species-level identification.
In this seminar, we will focus on long read sequencing applications to define microbial community form and function.
